Veterinary Care

It is very important that you have your own veterinarian check your puppy and follow his/her program for shots, worming and general health care. We and our vet have carefully examined the pup, placed tattoo marks and given the first series of inoculations prior to them going to their new homes.

When you leave the breeders with a pup you should/will receive a record of health which should be examined carefully and note when the next shots or examinations are due. You can pass this written record to your vet so this information can be incorporated into the new vets data base records on your pets health history. All dogs require annual immunization to protect their health from various harmful diseases and the annual trip to a good vet can pay dividends by providing early detection of any problems.

Some times veterinary care is very expensive but what value can you place on your loyal friends health and companionship for the next 10-15 years. Some diseases and injuries can actually worsen or become untreatable if neglected for any length of time.

You should consider your pup to be very susceptible to disease and parasites until fully immunized at about 6 months, and until that time we recommend minimal or no  contact with unknown pets.

Your dog has to depend on you to check him routinely and notice any changes in not only their physical wellbeing (coat, eyes, ears, teeth, stool, discharges etc) but also changes in activity  or lethargy which could be clues to an ill dog. They can't tell you what is wrong so you have to be alert for changes.

Consult with the vet for a closer look or tests if in doubt and warranted.
