We Love Hunting dogs! After 20 years of breeding, training and often competing on the licensed field trial circuit we have a special place in our hearts for competitive Labrador and Golden Retrievers. I just can't imagine hunting upland or waterfowl without a fully trained dog for they add so much to the experience with a great retrieve. The neighbors probably thought I was crazy when I voluntarily bought marginal farmland because it contained many wet and natural areas that would not yield a crop. Those areas were destined to become my "training grounds" to ensure I would always have suitable grounds for both my dogs and those of my hunting clients. A 2200 square foot indoor kennel facility with a dozen outside and inside runs complemented the grounds. There are many people involved in the retriever game with as many various motivations. Our purpose as a breeder is to produce a Lab or Golden with good structure, consistent temperament as well as a zeal for hunting. Having produced hundreds of puppies for clients from all over north America we recognized a local need for a facility in which both a dog and handler could achieve their full potential. We regularly help puppy and dog owners whether or not the puppy was purchased here. Our starter booklet which was handed out to puppy buyers for over 10 years is now available for anyone to utilize as it forms a good part of this website (under training). We are always as close as the phone for your questions. I would rather help avoid a training problem rather than spend months trying to undo the error once ingrained. Our dogs and their owners are our friends and as such they are always treated with respect. We believe in humane method training which requires both dog and owner understand what is being done, the degree of difficulty and the potential risks for failure. Positive reinforcement training requires that at every level of our training program we teach, train and then test. We would be happy to assist you with this area if you do not have the time, knowledge or facility to train your own dog. Although we specialize in Retrievers our clients include many pointing and flushing dogs, their clubs and owners. The grounds are available by appointment for training sessions for individuals and clubs free of charge. Live bird training is available for a nominal fee to cover the cost of the birds for which we are licensed and make available almost year round.
